Scope of Tourism Marketing, Policy Planning and Development in Bangladesh: Important Tourist Attractions in Sylhet Division, Problems and Potentialities

Tourism is the one of the most important aspects for developing countries. Both domestic and international tourism must be considered to evaluate the impact of tourism on the economy. To the host region/area travel provides a basis for developing tourism as an export industry, which means that the level of economic activities of the area shall increase through the sale of products and services to the tourists. Tourism marketing also offers wide regional and international linkages. As a result, more international and regional organizations are offering the country wider participation in tourism-related forums. Bangladesh with its limited financial resources depends much on foreign assistance. International cooperation and foreign assistance can be equally sought for development of tourism in Bangladesh. Sylhet is an attractive ecotourism destination in Bangladesh. The natural attractions of Bangladesh are: the tropical climate, tea gardens, tropical forests, many rivers and lakes, beautiful tranquil scenery, eco parks etc. In this paper we have considered the scope of tourism marketing, policy planning and development for overall Bangladesh on the basis of some secondary data. Important tourism attractions of Sylhet division have been selected to evaluate the existing tourism marketing and policy planning.
